Insurance claim

Hi,

Very sadly my car had an argument with a deer last weekend. I'm now arguing with the insurance company over the value. I wondered if anyone had access to the original options price list from 2008?

Even the Audi specialists who collected the car commented on the spec and said to make sure I tell the insurance the details and cost.

Any help hugely appreciated.

There are several A8 brochures listed in the D3 Tech Dump section here:

Second and third from the bottom of Delboy's list are the brochures for '06 and '09, with prices. If you still had access to the car, you could get a copy of the build sticker, which would help identify some of the options.

Good luck getting it sorted.

Thanks for your reply. Where would I find the build sticker?

FWIW, my payout last year was about £5.5k, on a slightly lower spec (no BOSE, RVC or electric boot) and 130k miles.

Build sticker is usually under the boot floor I believe?

The build sticker covers only the basic mechanical items that are often needed to hand when repairing or servicing a vehicle, not to be confused with the full build spec which is pages long and covers off the whole spec end to end.

Assuming you're looking at a total loss, im not sure those options would add a great deal of value to a 12/13 year old car to be honest. A lot of valuations offer very little for them after 4/5 years normally. A 4.2 Tdi would often come with a few extra toys anyway.

Audi 'specialists' see a lot of A3/A4/A6 and find anything with a leather interior a bit special to be fair, so even a basic A8 seems like its royalty to them.

If its in superb condition, low mileage, recent expensive service or has something else that really sets it aside, you're probably better off hunting the classifieds for examples of a car like yours to justify the increased value imo.

Well alls agreed and in the end a fair payout I think. Being collected today so a sad end to a car I've really enjoyed for 3 years.
