Tyre Pressures

Hi All,
Recommended tyre pressures are noted on the fuel cap cover.
But on my D3 the largest wheel shown is 19".
Having had the pleasure to visit Audi Warrington today to collect a couple of small parts that I had on order, managed to peruse the new A8 3.0 TDI Sport. This was on 21" wheels with Dunlop Sport Max tyres and on returning home I realised I had not thought to check the tyre pressures in the fuel cap cover.

So all you with superior knowledge, what pressure do you recommend for my tyres?

I have a 2004 A8 D3 3.0 TDI on 20" wheels.
Tyres fitted are Dunlop SP Sport Max GT 275/35 ZR 20 (102Y) Extra Load.

That is probably another lengthy discussion opened:ROFL:

Whilst there we also had a look at a R8 and realised that it's tyres would be rather expensive!!!

I keep the 20" FE wheels on our D3's at around 39-40 psi and according to the tpm they go up by 2 psi when the tyres warm up on the motorway etc +++

I'm sure someone with factory 20s will pop along with an answer, but you should be able to obtain a sticker with the correct pressures if you wanted it.

Not sure it's the same, but on our S5 which came with 20s from the factory the pressure recommendation doesn't vary for 19s or 20s. nothing smaller apart from M+S was an option, so the 18" fitment for those uses totally different pressures.

I have factory FE 20"s on mine with 275/35/20 tyres (on Dunlop SP Sport Maxx at the moment) and from the fuel flap label:
  • normal load is rear 33psi or 2.3 bar and front 36psi or 2.5 bar
  • full load is rear 41psi or 2.8 bar and front is 44psi or 3.0 bar.

Hope that helps and I can get you a photograph if you really want one.

Thanks Lee S, Adrian E & Architex_mA8tey,
Looks like Lee has similar to the vehicle in Warrington Audi showroom so they are the ones that I will go with.
Photo not needed Lee.
I love this forum.:D:love:

I've got the same size tyres on mine. Do you think the pressures changed for the S8?

Looking at the tyre pressure display on MMI, it showed the tyres were around 34psi front and 31 for the rear.

I didn't look for the sticker in the fuel filler cap, so I'm not sure if it has the 275 size or the 265 size on there.

You can say it......I'm good haha.

I pretty much run any car with a lowish profile tyre at around 40psi, I've never had wear issues and always had good wet and dry grip and good mpg, the high pressure also help reduce buckles as the tyre will take more of an impact before getting to the rim, big balloon tyres like 50-60 profiles I'll try and stick closer to recommended or around 35ish +++

Thanks very much, and yes, you are good!

I was looking at that document form the tech dump last night, and, sadly, it doesn't include the 275/35, or the 5.2 V10.

Yeah i noticed that as well. I wonder why its not in there?
Anyway i run 40 psi all round.
