Reversing lights.

Having owned the D2 for a year and a half now, I find very few things that I think 'that could be better' or 'I don't like that'. Generally, it seems to be a great motor all round.

However...... we're currently undergoing a major project at home, meaning there's a skip, building materials and a toilet where I normally turn round outside my house. This means I now reverse all the way down my shared drive, about 60metres ish with a sweeping bend. Big overhanging trees and my neighbours reluctance to spend money on electricty mean it's pitch black and I can't see a blooming thing! I've tried my rear fogs and dabbing the brake lights helps, but basically the D2 reversing lights are terrible. Anyone else feel this way? Any suggestions to correct it? I won't spend much money on it as the drive will very soon be back to normal. I've also invested in a large new PIR security light for the front access. +++

I think they're OK, but my other car is a Ford Focus... (nuff said, one single candle down at floor level!)
Plus I always drive in forwards and reverse out with my foot usually on the brake to slow it down - all down to the geometry of access, better and safer that way.
Plenty of LED upgrades available, try those. ;)

There was another thread on here a few months back discussing LED upgrades for these, and at the time I thought the prices being quoted for two LED bulbs was rather expensive.

I live in the back of beyond, so when it's dark it's dark, so I decided to go onto AliExpress and see what they had on offer. Amongst the hundreds on offer, I ended up getting the following ones for around £10 for two:

They make a vast difference now, so can definitely recommend the LED upgrade path.

Quick question - don't I need the CANBUS version for my D2? Will these not show up as faulty?

HPsauce 4th November 2015 01:25 PM

Doubt it, but if you wait I'll let you know how mine work.

I have some of those in my reverse light slots.

Would definitely recommend them +++

They don't show up any errors, but need to be put in the correct way to work. A bit like the LEDs for the interior lights. Advise is to fit the bulb and try it before refitting to car.

Thanks for the info, just ordered some. Now I have to wait a month or so with the slow boat from China lol.
