Alarm Ultrasonic Disable Switch in door pillar

Hi Guys,
My Fl D2 ultrasonic door switch is damaged. no cover
Looked at swapping over from my PF A8 QS, which is a good switch.
On taking it out the Pre FL it only has two wires going into the unit.
The FL version has 4 wires going into it.
Anyone know the difference between the two switches and the reason for the additional wires?
Thanks,
David

Is there a light in it? Pretty sure mine (FL) is illuminated.

Hi HP,
The FL unit does have a light in it.
The Pre FL does not.
Are the other two wires for the illumination then?

By the way that was my S8 with the boot spoiler on it at Audis in the Park yesterday. If you were in the green S8, I did see you driving around the field, but didn't get chance to say hi. Your car sounded nice +++

I've replaced the 2 door pillar switches probably half a dozen times. They're always breaking for some reason, even though I rarely use them.

Fortunately they're pretty cheap. You can get used ones from about £10 and brand new for less than £30.

I believe the part number for the ultrasonic switch is 4B0962109A

Brand new from the forum sponsor for £26.49 here:

The boot release switch part number, for future reference, is 4B0959831A I believe.

That was indeed me. Standard exhaust though. ;)

And yes, the lighting would be totally separate so two extra wires.

Take care with retracting the seat belt when you take it off. I've broken these when the seat belt buckle doesn't retract fully and gets stuck in the door when you close it - just at the point where these switched are!

I found the PF doesn't fit the FL aperture, the PF item is bigger under the visible part IIRC
