IKEA Stolmen Furniture
 

We have a couple of IKEA Stolmen units and in her wisdom SWMBO has decided that we need to reconfigure the set up.
Of course this means that we need some extra parts and IKEA only stocks them in USA.
Tongue in cheek time.
I need

1. one support pole (floor to ceiling)
2. one cross rail (110cm)
3. one shelf (110cm)
4. and a few brackets

Anyone having some bits lying around?

Throw it all in the skip and do this instead :p

I only paid £150 for all that I have new from IKEA.
What I need would be £40 or £50.
I see on Fleebay a chap is offering something like ten times what I have for £900. Probably more than IKEA ever had?????

Ohhh, STOLMAN furniture, I thought you said STOLEN!! :D :p

I was just wondering, that you need to make sure if the floor to ceiling support pole is fixed properly Ray, i've see videos of those when it goes wrong or is it not one of those sort of poles.


Ahhh that's why no one was admitting to it.

I know, gas pipe and scaffold boards, do like the look though but would build it myself for a fraction of the price

The support poles have flat plates at the top that ideally are screwed through the ceiling plaster into the ceiling joists. The base plate can be screwed to the floor.
As is usual things can only be as good as they are designed to be if used/fitted correctly.
SWMBO is always telling me that I over engineer whenever I do things. Where builders hammer nails in I screw.

As for self build, that is probably what we will have to do if nobody comes up with anything.
