Parking sensors 😩
Hi this is my first post on here and I was just wondering if anyone could help me out.
The problem is whenever I go into reverse I get a loud beep for about 2 seconds but none of my sensors work. The little button on the dash for the sensors also blinks. If anyone knows the solution to this I would be very greatful :). Also my car is a 59 plate 3.0 tdi sport if that helps. Cheers |
Sounds like a faulty sensor and/or connection.
Easiest way to find out which one is to use VCDS or a fault code reader. |
Welcome to the forum.
To accurately diagnose what is wrong with your parking sensors you will need to connect vcds to the car. I would not t waste my money on a generic code reader or a vcds clone if you want to take care of the car yourself properly. If you consider audi will charge £100 quid each time you need to diagnose a fault the cost is quickly recovered by doing a few scans In the short term there maybe a forum member that could help you out with scanning the car to narrow down your fault. |
no problem guys cheers do u know where i can buy a vcds and are they easy enough to work

VCDS is software you download and install on a PC, typically a Windows laptop.
To run it you need a special cable. There are several dealers in the UK for these, see: http://www.ross-tech.com/distributors.html The dealer/distributors will advise which version is suitable for you. |
Barry, I purchased mine from Gendan. You'll need the HEX-USB+CAN Interface Package for your D3.

I've read that faulty parking sensors makes a noise.
or working ones make a noise and the faulty ones don't. But either way. activate the sensors and see if one or two are making or not making a noise. |
Usually, working ones make a clicking and high pitched whine.. Though that's no guarantee as one on the X5 was still clicking but reporting an error. If you hear nothing on one, then it's definitely dead.
|
On the A8, if any are faulty, they are all disabled after 1 second, so you can't get chance to hear the clicking sound.
|
there arent any clicking noises just a sensor beep then it stops and the sensor button on the dash flashes
