D3 S8 Ceramic Brake Backing Plates
Howdy all,
I've just had to purchase a brake disc backing plate for my S8. because it has the ceramic brakes, the backing plates are horribly expensive (£300+). If I'd known that, I wouldn't have tossed the old one away so carelessly! While checking the car, I noticed that the front driver's side backing plate on my car seems different from the others. Where all the others curve over the disc to protect the edges, the OSF backing plate curves away from the disc, leaving the edges exposed. Could someone with ceramic brakes tell me if it's the same on theirs? I'd hate to have to buy another one of these infernal things! |

I noticed the same thing on cars at the German meet and the only thing I could conclude was that they had been fitted back to front.

I don't know, but looks like one SKU covers left and right - so it will be as you say curving over one side and away on the other.

Are there any merits in swapping to the Phaeton cover plates with the air duct?

I'm confused. I don't get why one would not be a protective as the others, unless it is, as Del has suggested, fitted backwards.
Do all of your backing plates cover the disc edges? |
