They say a picture speaks a thousand words, so here's 3000..... ;)

The BHP increase is nothing. Its the 1000+ NM that really, really takes your breath away.... +++

lol. It was more of a bucket list item.... For a while its been apparent the RS6 will likely be my last, and most ridiculous daily driver, so decided I should go the whole hog....

I've never had a remap, and never had that much power, even though its really not a cheap job, it seemed a bit irresistible...

I quite fancied the whole 'drive it in slow', remap, and 'drive it out faster' thing. Even though I'm an IT guy it was a bit hard to believe it would make that much difference.....

After some practise, I used to be able to drive it flat out. Now there's no chance....

Even the insurance company wanted proof of the software upgrade, not sure they believed me +++

Mind boggling. I can perfectly understand why you'd put yourself through the hell of all that grunt. You have my sympathy, you lucky sod

Grunt is a V8 pressing you back in your seat as you press the loud peddle. This is an insane legal high, whilst somehow also serving a practical purpose.

After the remap, when I first gave it some gusto I felt the steering wheel pull away from my hands as I sank back in the seat. That was weird.

The second time I hoofed on (now clinging to steering wheel) it was obvious the back wheels were struggling for grip altering from cruising speed to overtaking speed.

I'll say that again. 'struggling for grip'

Oh, and it was dry, and sunny..... and of course auto and Quattro....

Its genuinely, honestly, unnecessarily mind bogglingly fast.

and this is a really quite modestly modified C6 RS6. MRC have just done a 1000+ps, 1200+nm version. You probably felt the earth move backwards slightly when they were mapping it ;)

I've done it once, many years ago now and on a lowly 2-litre turbo-diesel. A company called Van Aaken who are long gone. They did it with a plug-in box that was totally removable to revert to standard.

The difference was astounding - getting on for a 50% increase in torque and almost as much extra power; I didn't keep the evidence (not least because I eventually sold the unit on to a happy buyer who used it to tow a big caravan!).
They did say that mine was the best example of the particular model that they had done, it was happy taking the maximum they could adjust it up to, normally 30% extra was about the safe maximum.

So did you have the remap done before the trip to germany?

How fast did you have her up to?

It's great isn't it? The guys at MRC are good too.. I drove my lowly oil burner in with 657Nm and drove out with 807Nm (150Nm which was ~ 24% increase). That was a modest "basic" remap too.... That RS6 with 1000+ must be phenomenal, especially with close to 700 horses behind it too... Nice!! Enjoy.. +++;)
