Help please.. engine limp mode..

Hi guys..
Any suggestions on the following would be graciously accepted..

Under hard acceleration my 3.0TDI is going into limp mode..
A typical example is pulling away from a roundabout with boot down hard, but not excessive RPM, or pushing on to overtake.
First thing I know that anything is wrong is the preheater plug flashing on the dash.. Not getting any other messages, no fault codes showing that appear related, and switching engine off and on again resets everything and back to normal..

I do however have my engine warning lamp on due to ongoing problem with bank 1 inlet manifold. Any ideas if the two could be related? Maybe something to do with the airflow control through the flaps? This has only started recently, but the manifold problem has been there since Nov/Dec.

Anybody seen theis before??

Could well be related... May also be DPFs.

Turbo related maybe

I had the same symptoms when i had a split pipe in the air cooler circuit from the turbo.

When putting my foot down or with a full load on board it would flash the light, then go solid. A restart cleared it.

But I did get an error code that boost pressure was too low, so I would double check for fault codes, it could easily be related to the fault on the inlet manifold as I would expect the faults would have a similar effect on the engine.

There MUST be some fault codes stored - what did you read them with?
Don't bother with a generic ODBII reader as not all possible VAG fault codes are covered by the scope of the OBDII standard.

Thanks guys.
To be honest it was on a pretty standard OBD reader that I borrowed.
I'll get it re-done with something a bit more "capable"

turbo veins blocked

the first thing i would do is take off the turbo and strip and clean the variable veins
i did my vw sharan it was mega dirty, cleaned and refitted it was perfect
