I have lost my welding skills due to long term non-use, so I used wood.http://forum.a8parts.co.uk/attachmen...1&d=1500826205

The beginnings of a medieval trebuchet. At last, I thought you were never going to get round to it Ray. +++

I'm not sure my mitre saw would make an angle cut that long!

All saw cuts by hand. The old fashioned way, pencil line, T square and calibrated eyeball.
I liked the look of it so I stained it brown with fence preservative.
Surprisingly I still liked it so I made another four.

I have no idea what these will be used for Ray, so I'm guessing it's shoring formwork??

OK I give in.
Gwen says I've played it long enough.
Remember I'm only a simple old man so my projects are slow in development but do require lots of sitting down with a cuppa.

Here is one of my things in position prior to preservative.

Now here is the final assembly, but one of the grandaughters has declared that the preservative must be kept away from the finished thing.

It is surprisingly comfortable, at least three brews worth of comfort.
Now Gwen is going to make a fitted cushion for the whole thing. Luckily I've left the seat low enough to allow for fitting a thick cushion and the back slope is just right for leaning on. I chose 70 degrees for the angle of dangle having measured various seats.

The only problem is that now I have put my tools away SWMBO has delared that I am going to start the next project. Build her an Arbour with honeysuckle growing all over it just like the one she had me pull down a few years ago. O-hum!
