Changing all interior trim

Well when I bought my S8, it came with a second set of interior trim, door handles and door pulls sprayed Aqua Blue, same as the exterior.

Thought it wouldn't be a major job to change them. Door trims were easy, stereo surround was easy, as was the trim around the handbrake and under the centre armrests.

I thought the trim above the glovebox with the 'quattro' badge and the small piece near the wiper stalk would be just as simple as the trim strips along the doors but how wrong I was. Looks like additional bolts need to be undone and the trim around the gear stick involves taking the carpet off the sides of the centre tunnel and yet more screws according to a couple of guides I've just found online. Centre cup holder involves taking the whole armrest off again too, GRRR!

Ran out of light for tonight so will try again in the week or next weekend. The pieces which I have changed look the nuts I think! I didn't really mind the 'wood' trim when it was on the car but now I have the pieces off the car I have to say they do look a bit dull and boring. I'll post some better pictures once I've completed the whole job but here's some pics of the car taken apart for now...

Also found some 10 year old parking tickets under the ashtray!...

My internet in work doesn't let me see the pictures.

Been dying to see what it looked like with the new trim on.

I also found said tickets many moons ago but left them there for luck - a bit like finding an old newspaper under the floorboards IMO+++

Wow - that's dedication! If you're going to those extremes you could add the radio clock module up behind the centre airvent grills if you wanted to. With the side panels off the transmission tunnel the whole assembly with nav unit still attached comes out with about 4 bolts IIRC.

The factory location is basically a recess in the centre of the screen

Page 9 of this thread gives the info:

Hmm, that's an idea, thanks Adrian. Looks like changing the remaining trim pieces isn't a 10 minute job.

Will take some better pictures once all the trim is done but for now...

Who did the refinishing on the trim? Looks a nice quality finish :D

I really need to get my door handle shells done, since they're NLA new from Audi. I couldn't get 1 in the right colour so the options seem to be to live with my one miss-matched purple one, or get a close colour match and get the upper and lower shells done in a close finish

Well done! loving the blue trims. +++
This is a job that's waiting for me too and I'm dreading it, except I have to change the dashboard too, the whole interior is changing to black, with exception of roof (I cant face doing that!).

You'll have to ask Dave McB (who I bought the car off) as I'm not sure but it's a good job.
