Wanted: A8 D3 4.2 tdi (2008 on...) ***Sorted***

Firstly - hi to all, as this is my first post on this forum, despite having been lurking behind the scenes for a few weeks.

So, this time 12 months ago I thought I had it all figured - when I went and bought a C5 RS6 to have as my weekend toy, and an Octavia to deal with my daily grind. It turns out - i'd rather just have one really nice car which I can use all of the time.

So, before I can acquire a nice A8, I need to find homes for my RS6, and then my Octavia. No pictures for now - as it looks like I need to post a minimum number of times (i'm guessing). For anyone interested - the RS6 is currently advertised on Autotrader and RS246.com (hope I haven't broken any rules here?).

Once the RS6 is sold, I'll be looking for a face-lift D3 (2008 on). Higher mileages not a problem - in fact preferred, so that price is kept keen.

My heart tells me that i'll be after the 4.2 tdi variant, albeit my head says that a 3.0 tdi would be all that is required. I suspect that my heart will win on this occasion.

I prefer the darker colours. Also not a fan of the std. SE seats. Not made my mind up yet on whether to go for a LWB or not - so we'll leave that as "undecided" for the moment.

Key options which i'll be looking for:
  • Rear window blinds
  • Heated rear seats
  • Solar sunroof
  • Rear entertainment would be nice - but not essential.

Ideal price - circa. £10k. Less for higher mileage, more if necessary - to get the right car.

Nothing much about at the moment which takes my fancy. No rush though - at least until the RS6 is gone.

Perfect choice of vehicle that will best of both worlds, especially if you remap it :)

Tell me more about the RS6 we might strike a deal

Welcome, and feel free to post some adverts for your cars, there is no post minimum for the private sale of a few Audi items +++

If you can stretch to the 4.2 you will find it more rewarding, and audibly the V8 sounds so much more refined than the V6 Tdi. Tends to have better spec also.

It'll hold its value nicely on resale too. +++

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome.

For anyone interested, i've pasted a link to the RS6 advert:

Roberto - i've had my eye on your car since I stumbled across A8 Forum a few weeks ago. It certainly looks extremely smart and well kept. However, for the moment i'm going to hold out for a 4.2 tdi, hopefully close to £10k.

the 4.2 tdi remapped is something else +++
i just wish i had specced mine with that engine when i ordered it
but the £500 tax disc put me off
and the extra £8000 for the bigger engine +++

Agreed - an extra £8k is a whole lot more cash on top of an already pricey motor. Makes these cars seem incredible value second hand at this kind of age.

GLWS.

So, RS6 sold - meaning money in the bank to spend on a nice A8.

No rush, but this appeals ALOT!

Shame it's not a 4.2 tdi - otherwise I'd be going on a long road trip this weekend!

If I was going to buy a 3.0 tdi I would be beating a path to Robertos door, low mileage and nice toys.

Have you seen his car?
