Wiper motors frozen?

Over the last few days (of sub-zero temperatures) my wipers have become progressively slower, to the point where they almost refused to work this morning...

I've had the wiper motor seize up completely on the S4 in the past, but not due to cold. Is it possible that it's literally frozen up or just foobarred?

Could be frost... Give the mechanism a liberal spraying with WD40 and see if it eases off. Mine went in the D2 (wouldn't work on intermittent or slow, just on fast) and a good spraying a couple of times sorted it out.

Thanks Richard, I'll give that a try this evening +++

ooh dear...

Tried that, still the same.

So we took the whole mechanism to pieces, more WD40, white grease, all moving freely, but the motor is working intermittently and, like Richard's, only really working at all on the fast setting :(

So, looks like a trip to A8parts for a new motor... ;)

Quite a common failing the wiper mechs... Or rather the motors on them, but the mech and motor is a 'single part' in Audis eyes, not too tricky to change though.... +++

Do you have one in stock Ian ?

Just to close this one out

So the solution was to replace the failing motor and, just for good measures, the mechanism too.

and the answer to my last question was "of course" - as always an excellent service at a very reasonable price from A8parts - thanks again guys +++

All working again now :D
