Why won't brake block fit...?

1 Attachment(s)
I recently tried to install a brake block bit it won't fit.

Assuming the dimensions of the brake block are correct-- what is most likely to be out of place, and why?

Booster? Master cylinder?

What can I look for and where?

Appreciate anyone willing to help out - thank you!

Doesn't look that far out, what happens when you tighten the bolt holding the strut brace?
Where did you get the block from? Pictures show yours vs the UK version made for MJ. To my eye yours looks a bit thicker.
(I'm comparing the width of the top of the strut brace to the distance to the "point", though the geometry of yours is slightly different.)

I tried pushing it in further by hand first but couldn't get it to budge so I was reluctant to try and tighten the bolt without first consulting the community here.

It's from a Quattroworld forum member who just had a batch made.

I see what you mean and thanks for the side by side pics to compare. (I couldn't even figure out how to post mine properly lol...)

I will go ahead and get a proper measuring tool to confirm the block measurements and see if they match what the member intended. There are also specs available online, I can't remember where- maybe here.

I think the whole point is that the bulkhead the master cylinder is mounted on is not solid enough and moves anyway! :-(

If MJ spots this she'll no doubt give exact measurements for the one we have in the UK that works EXTREMELY well. +++++++++

Measured the block and it seems to have the exact correct dimensions per this:

https://forums.quattroworld.com/a8/msgs/5713.phtml

Also, found this from MJ on a prior brake block group by thread here: "The block slots over the brace and has a slight preload once tightened up."

So I will probably just try and tighten it carefully and see if that does it.

Good point. :)

I just installed it. Bolts didn't seem to need too much tightening to get everything flush.

Would still be curious to see dimensions on MJ's version, though I think I also read it might be a slightly different fit RHD vs LHD.

I seem to be the only one so far here on this batch who had to squeeze mine in a bit so maybe it was just my car.

Move the bracket - they are all slightly different since the factory didn't care about the alignment of the strut brace so some are too tight, some too lose, some just right. I set the bracket so it gives about 1mm of preload when tightening the brace bar.

Thanks MJ!
