Headlight wash

Bit of a noob question as learning the foibles of the D3....

Is it normal when operating the windscreen wash, the headlight washer system activates one side at a time???
I get the drivers side pop out and spray water, then once that’s done it’s spray it retracts and then the passenger side activates.
My previous Audi’s have always done both headlight washers at the same time....

Yes, but design. Only affects the output of one headlight at a time +++

Well everyday is a school day.... how weird but at least it’s not broke

Makes perfect sense, only need half the power from pump and only affects light output from one light at the time.

The time delay and washer time duration can all be altered in the adaptation channels.

Hi Matt. Long time no see. Hope all is well with you and yours.

Do you know if you can alter the washer timing? As the spray from my headlight washers inevitably tends to find its way onto the windscreen, and need a manually activated pass or two from the wipers. (first world problem I know)

Hi John, all doing well mate. +++

I'll be honest and although it can be changed there will be some trial and error as I've not discovered what the T values are that can't be altered at they're fixed within the modules firmware.

Here's what the manual says...
Quote:

HWS adaption:
Channel 6,HWS activation delay time / HWS pump activation times, value 0...255, range 0 - 2.55 sec
Channel 7,T3 / T12, value 0...255, range 0 - 2.55 sec
Channel 8,T4 / T13, value 0...255, range 0 - 2.55 sec
Channel 9,T7 / T16, value 0...255, range 0 - 2.55 sec

The times T5, T6, T10, T14 and T15 cannot be changed by way of adaption. The time T9 = T18 is calculated from T9 = (T2 + T6 + T8) - (T3+ T4 + T5 + T7)

If T9 < 0, then T8 = T8 - T9 and T9 = 0.

Otherwise the pump and nozzle run asynchronously!

HWS pop-up washer jet motor activation times:

Channel 10,T2 / T11, vaule 0...255, range 0 - 5.1 sec
Channel 11,T8 / T17, value 0...255, range 0 - 5.1 sec
Nice and easy so far

Login to module 4F, Security Access 12151, Do It, then change the values in adaption channels 6 - 11.

Just for reference here are some values (6-11)
100;40;100;70;75;100 from my A8
100;40;60;100;75;100 Factory Settings

Very comprehensive reply there Matt. Thanks, and sorry for any unintended thread-hijack.

No apology needed, it’s all good information
