Check Your Kickdown Switch

Found out my kick down switch was in the off position.

Not sure why but turned it back on it and BOOM kickdown, also no more fuel.

It appears the D2 facelift lads had their kick down switches turned off as well.

Why would someone turn this off?

With the D2, you installed the kickdown switch by rotating it in the same direction as you do to disable the switch. I always guessed it was from factory that it was off as either someone was supposed to turn it back a notch during manufacture, or at least the PDI but was rarely done.....

It is a nice boost when you enable it after finding its been off sicne you got it... +++

Hi Ian - to clarify/check, on the D2, it's a turn and click to the right to enable kick down, but presumably a turn and click to the left to disable, or have I missed a trick here when it comes to the directionality of the switch?

No click, just turn it.
When it's in the right (right) position it will click when pressed.

D3 the same process I assume? How much does it turn each way?

ScottD3 7th August 2014 07:51 AM

Yup same.

I get the idea of it being switchable, however find it strange that it's default is in the off position over on. Mine is off with the Main Stealers again today so won't be ale to check mine until tonight :-(

In the D2 link that you posted on post 1, I read through and there was instructions for testing it off whilst parked and engine off, is that something for just the D2 owners or would this work for the D3 as well?

Regards, Mark.

No idea if it will work with the D3s.

I just get on the A38, go up to top gear and plant my foot. lol
