Wanted - D2 Heater Hose/ Pipe 4D2819371B

Alas A8 parts do not currently have one of these and its not available in the UK anymore from Audi/ TPS.

Hence I need to get the car back on the road and the only current option is Audi Tradition with their rather expensive postage.

Any of you fine ladies and gents have a 4D2819371B lying about?

Its the lower heater hose for reference.

I don't have one of those either I'm afraid :(

There's a listing for it here: https://www.online-teile.com/audi-er...ml?language=en

Hoses like this strike me as being pretty universal, apart from the application-specific bends. I mean, is there anything special about them? Would it not be possible to make one (or have one made) from a 'standard' length of coolant hose?

The tight bends are the challenge - off the roll heater hose has a much larger minimum bend radius than moulded hoses and so doesn't usually work.

Last year I contacted a couple of silicone hose manufacturers about making a set for the D2 but they weren't interested because of the limited market. I have subsequently found other manufacturers who will do one-offs so it may be worth following up with them. The challenge of course is the tooling as that has to be crafted from metal so that the new hose can be formed around it then baked. The tooling cost will run in to four figures for a full set of hoses so it would need some sort of group buy to make it feasible. Maybe a project for 2020...

Count me in +++

I didn't realise the bends were so difficult/specialist to make. In that case, would it not be possible replace each of the bends with some sort of metal elbow (with straight sections of rubber/silicon hoses between the bends)? Or would that compromise flow or performance in some way?

Yeah if there were no way at all to get another one it could be replicated with several 90 degree long-tail silicone hoses and couplers. Ugly, but functional. In that application a slight reduction in flow wouldn't be terrible.

If I do get some sets made up they will be in 'classic car' matt black, rather than boy-racer blue :ROFL:

Agreed with the above if it was a simple hose then yes I would just buy something generic.

This one has a couple of 90s in it hence I need to go the buying the official one route.

Ordered from Germany +++

Damn!

"Thank you very much for your order.

The part is unfortunatelly not available from factory and can only purchased at Audi Tradition.

In this case we have a delivery time of round about 6-7 Business days with additional shipping costs of 7,74 €. We can send you a request via PayPal for this amount.

Please let me know, how you would like to proceed. "

It's worrying that such a basic and perishable part is now so difficult to obtain. It's a relatively simple bit of rubber tube; you'd think there would be some good 'universal' products available to replace it. :-(

Best I could find is this ...

... which goes back to my suggestion of knocking something together using metal couplers. Might be worth a try, at least as a short-ish term solution ...
