Flashlube: is this Snake Oil??

Hi All,

Reading on ebay about a car that had been gassed up but needed a new cylinder head. :( The seller says this is 'cos "gas burns so hot" and so he fitted a Flashlube system.

I thought that sintered valve seats stopped problems many years ago and only vehicles designed to run on leaded petrol could have problems. Years ago LPG converted vehicles DID burn valves though... :-(

Does anyone have any experience of these things on any vehicle?

I don't know about flash lube, that sounds like something you get in a harmony shop down soho way... but I did run a BRC LPG system on my B6 S4 foot over two years with no issues at all! I think old old LPG systems used too be far less friendly

It all depends on the car, 12 years ago we had 2 cars converted to lpg, the Lexus rx300 is still going strong but the Mazda Tribute didn't like the gas and needed a head rebuild after 12 months and then needed flashlube system to stop the valves burning up.

Thanks for posts

Hi Guys,

Thanks for the tips, invaluable really. +++

The 2 Audi's done haven't had problems, Steamship's 3.7 is gassed and it seems the heads are OK.

Another win for Audi engineering it seems!
