Peter Crouch spotted outside our house on Thursday....

And now he's appearing on the BBC! Quick ad between programs seen several times already today.
Apparently it's for a program called "Save Our Summer" starting in a couple of weeks time.

We wondered what on earth was going on, several vans, a large film crew, vaguely "socially distancing" and a cardboard cut-out of someone tall!
And one very brightly dressed individual who was clearly the "creative director".....

My neighbour (that's his bungalow) went out to ask, didn't recognise the cut-out and was told it was Peter Crouch - he was none the wiser!

Our house is on the left with all the trees and the long fence. Sadly the house (and more importantly S8) are hidden by the foliage. :-(
Incidentally there's a small bloke standing sideways and trying to be thin, behind the cut-out holding it up!

That would be me I'm afraid. I had to Google him! :o

It's surreal when a TV crew swoops on your town. It's happened a few times here over the years (in Ramsbottom). Most of the houses here are old stone terraced properties and we have a heritage steam railway, so we seem to have become the 'go to' town for TV and film-makers who are looking for an 'old northern' backdrop. Much or the TV series Exile (with Olivia Coleman) was filmed around here. And, more recently, the movie A Monster Calls.

A short clip of the shooting A Monster Calls in Ramsbottom:

I drove through the centre of the town a few times while they were filming A Monster Calls. There were dozens of movie trucks parked down every side street and enormous lighting rigs hung from each of the street lights, but not a crew member or actor to be seen anywhere. It was quite surreal. It went on for days, with most of the filming taking place late at night or in the early hours.
