Fuel consuption error on the instrument panel
Hi,
A8 4.2TDI. The instrument panel says consumption is 6,7L/100Km but real consumption (filling up and checking millage against liters) is 8,3L/100Km. Thatīs a 1,6L consumption difference between what audi says on the dashboard and the real one. I was aware that manufactures lie a bit on the measurements so we live happy, but 1,6L is a massive difference. Has anyone found the same problem? Iīve only seen this happening after engine ECU remapping. I know that BMW has some short of hidden menu to modify "special" functions within with there is something like a fuel consumption correction factor that you can change in order to adjust it so it matches the real figure. Any suggestions? Cheers! |
yes there is a way to change to it to calculate asyou need it to, i cant remember if it vagcom or the hidden menu, will take a look tomorow and let you know
|
Cheers!
I donīt even know how to access the hiden menu on this audi. Itīs nice to see a low consumption on the dashboard, but in this case is a complete lie... |
It can be changed on many models with VCDS in instrument adaption. You can adjust it 85-115%.

you need vcsd to change the consumption, this is how, you also need it to enable the hidden menu
Correct Consumption in DIS program [17 - Instruments] [Adaptation - 10] -> Channel 3 change 100 to xxx (see samples below) Sample 1 - Calculation based on volume per distance (e.g. l/100km): DIS: 9.3 l/100 km. Real: 9.8 l/100 km. (100 * 9.8 / 9.3 = 105.38) Channel 3 will be changed from 100 to 105 Sample 2 - Calculation based on distance per volume (e.g. MPG): DIS: 23 MPG. Real: 24 MPG. (100 * 23 / 24 = 95.83) Channel 3 will be changed from 100 to 96 |
you can test if somene has already enabled the hidden menu
Press CAR + SETUP for 6 seconds to enter the hidden menu but be carefull some of it is dangerous, you can turn your car in to a brick, suggest you google it and see what can be done, and not |
