I want an off roader

Thinking of buying a Touareg 3.6 or 4.2 petrol.
Thoughts?

They are pretty solid trucks Mike, also consider Volvo XC90 which are pretty hard wearing or even an Lpg'd Range Rover

James May programme quote from an Aussie: "If you want to travel into the outback, take a Land Rover. If you want to come back again, take a Land Cruiser".

So why not a Toyota LC? Or putting it another way, do you want a proper off-roader, or an on/off roader? The Touareg would probably do both quite well, but there's others that could as well?

I would like to stay VAG, and it will be mostly on road with flooded, off road horse box capability! The VW seem to be the cheapest out there. seen a couple of 4.2s that would take LPG easily enough.

I know of a V10 TDI Touareg for sale.

My old man is wanting to sell his.

never properly off roaded it but driven it in the snow many times and its amazing.

Been used for towing a twin axle caravan and we've forgotten its been on.

Land Cruises are ok but they seem basic in comparison to a Touareg.
Land Rovers just dont seem very reliable either.

Would love a V10 but couldn't afford to run it. That's why I'm thinking petrol with LPG.

My budget is 6k.

You can take this V10 away now and still have change.

When you say run it.
Its not to bad.
30mpg ish.
No belts, just fluids and filters.

This one needs a bit of TLC though.
