Urgent Battery Help!

Guys i think somethings up!

Long story short, i pulled into local tescos today and saw a mate so pulled next to him. Turned the car off but left ignition on, lights off radio on etc and sat chatting for a bit. Anyway 20 mins later went to start car and it was cranked once then ticked (that battery noise when there isnt enough juice to crank the starter) checked battery level on mmi center and was fine. Got out locked the car got back in and then it gave me the power management message and mmi said one bar.

It did this a while and took a long time for the juice to go back up. I drove for 40 miles last time it happened and it was still on one bar. I left it over night and started up in the morning but gave the power management level error. Fully charged that day within 10 miles. Seems fishy

Sometimes it can take ages for the battery to drain and sometimes not that long. Something a bit wrong i think??

When was your battery replaced? The MMI battery level is not reliable. That's why they removed from the latest firmware version 5570. You may want to upgrade your MMI FW too :)

years ago I had a 7 series BMW and the battery started the car fine one morning then I drove about 30 miles went into a meeting and when i came out got the same clicking noise and the AA came out and said that the battery had just totally discharged itself - so I agree, get the battery tested and probably needs replaced.

Can you post VCDS log??
If I would be you I would just get new battery for the sake of it, Bosch S5 130quid ish from ECP or plenty other retailers

I mean its not like the car is unusable as its fine during normal use but if i wipe down the dash or something and leave the radio on whilst hoovering it can take 10 mins to show low battery or an hour depends.

bit weird and it feels like the battery doesnt have the power to crank the starter as its a big engine.

Ive put my reg in ECP and got like 10 batteries to chose from. Do i need to be looking at the specs or will cheapest do? All come with a 3 year guarantee.

get the battery tested first to check it's a duff battery, most decent battery places will do this FOC

Can't comment on best battery for A8 other than Bosch S5 usually well rated, and usually get a 5 year warranty with Bosch, I think

Sounds like a tired battery, though the MMI system does eat power like you wouldn't believe.
