Seat memory repair offer

Would anyone be interested in getting their seat memory control panel backlight fixed? I'm thinking of doing it for £25 including return postage.

What you will get is:
  • Control panel stripped & cleaned and any of the burnt out lights replaced.
  • If any of the buttons arent audibly clicking when pressed or working, its usually a rusted out switch. It will get replaced too.
  • Control panel will be cleaned, spring loaded mechanism greased, the rubber switch pad treated with rubber conditioner (it cracks due to heat from the bulb inside), tested & sent back to you.

You will end up with a fully working control panel looking like this:

How to remove the control panel:

I'm thinking of doing all the pieces received as a batch in one day, so I will leave this ad up till the 31st of January so people have time to sign up.

You can post here or PM me to have you added to the list. I will message everyone on the evening of 31st with address & payment details +++

Interesting...

...and interested. I'm not sure I even knew there was a backlight for this - #skooldaysaturday ;)

Never noticed a backlight on mine, is it related to ignition, lighting or what?
And can you cope with non-black versions?

I can do non black versions, the backlight on those buttons comes on with ignition, same way the little lights in door handles come on.

These have been broken on most cars for many years, so most owners (including me) don't know they light up. I only found out because "1" on my control panel didn't work so i investigated it.

I'm in for a few +++ I don't think these light up in any of mine!

Phew! Not just me then  - could be a busy day for Ronin...

PS: does taking this component out out cause any fault code triggering/need for VCDS resetting, 'cos that would make it a bit more problematic...

No it won't, its a 'dumb' system not connected to the vehicle diagnostic system.

Your chauffeurs will be without seat memory function for a few days, thats all.:D

Once the control panel is plugged back in, everything will be back as it should be, and all the memory will still be there.

Actually the two lights are there in the ON/OFF switch (which doesn't seem to operate correctly). The 4 buttons are unlit but do actually work, though feel a bit sluggish.
So I'm in for a beige one. +++
