VCDS Ross-Tech with KEY-USB cable
Hi Everyone
I have a laptop uploaded with the latest VCDS version and I am using a KEY-USB cable. I can connect to the car and monitor basic engine functions but I can’t perform anything else. Specifically I would like to reset the Service Indicator and more importantly reset the memory codes to 0000 to be able to delete two previous user settings for the fingerprint control function. I am not sure if the cable doesn’t enable full functionality and I therefore need another cable or if there are gremlins in my car that are preventing VCDS working. Any suggestions would help. I cannot reset setting using the MMI as an error is signalled despite being able to have changed the code. It is little niggles that are spoiling a great car |
Unfortunately you need a later version of cable, that one doesn't support CANBUS which the D3 uses for most things.
Have a look on the RossTech web site to see if they have an offer on upgrading. There may be someone relatively near you with a suitable cable that can help in the short term. Edit: See https://store.ross-tech.com/shop/cat/IntUp I don't know if the UK distributors can do upgrades though. |

I suspect your problem is that a D3 needs a canbus-capable interface, which a KEY-USB is not:
http://forum.a8parts.co.uk/attachmen...1&d=1579369615 Your best bet is to sell that to someone with an earlier K-line model (it would probably work fine on a D2 or something of similar vintage) and then either look out for a used HEX-CAN, or buy a new HEX-V2. Thank you for all of the advice. I have bought a new HEX-V2 3 user cable for £225.00 incl VAT and rapid delivery from here: https://www.gendan.co.uk/product_VCV23.html I actually ordered it on Sunday morning and it arrived with me at 11.30 am today (Tuesday). Excellent service and I am up and running. Just got to sort out the codes for Fingerprint id now! Thanks again! |
