Front higher than rear
Hi Guys
Very quick question, which may be well known ? I have my car on the Dynamic setting ( 06 4.2tdi non-sport A8L ) and i notice that the front is higher than the rear... Is that expected? Thanks Chris |
Is it actually higher, or is it an optical illusion caused by a larger wheel gap (higher wheel arch in the guard) in the front like the D2's?
|
The correct air suspension measurements (from centre of wheel to top of wheel arch are:
Audi A8 (4E) standard suspension (PR-1BK): 416 mm (front) and 398 mm (rear) (Your normal setting) Audi A8/S8 (4E) sport suspension (PR-2MA/2MB): 396 mm (front) and 378 mm (rear) (Your dynamic setting) The check should be carried out on a level surface and if a long way out then a re-calibration procedure can be carried out using VAGcom +++ |
thanks guys
I dont know if its visual due to a wider arch? Thanks for those figures, i will go and measure it tonight! I need to get myself a vagcom cable and sw - my old copy ( which worked for mk1 tt has stopped working for me ) Chris |
And the procedure is described well here

Awesome guys !
I chance my arm here, but if anyone has a link to vagcom cable and sw on ebay or somewhere let me know. Cheers C |

I have a genuine cable (NOT for sale), and if you want, can come up with it and you can run through the procedure with it. As for buying a genuine one, you can buy the 3-VIN one from Gendan for £225. The unlimited VIN one is £575. There is an older style one on eBay that doesn't have the VIN limitation, but it's already sitting at £220.00 with 23 hours left. |
Hi Sean thanks for the offer very generous. If I am lucky I get down to the garage to read the manual, never mind getting up the road.
So might be tricky getting up to you as the other half isn’t into her motors. I prob couldn’t justify forking out 200 for the cable at the minute, but will definitely look to source one soon. I suspect you will try and talk me into getting my wheels too ;) starting to warm to them I have to say. Hopefully will get down shortly and get a proper look at the stamps on them. |

Strangely enough, I had actually forgotten about them... until now. They definitely suit the D2 and D3, as you'll discover the longer you have them. |
Have also noticed what sounds like occassional rubbing, only when going over a bump.
Like the top of the rim touching, note i only appear to be getting this when just starting off for a while or when its cold. Does this seem strange or familiar to anyone ? |
