Unknown cable and pipe found in boot
Any ideas what these are for? I found them in the right hand side of the boot.

It's the vent pipe for the battery. Not all batteries need them nowadays, but have a good look, usually just a small hole on one end.
I've had to create adapters for them in the past (not on my S8) using windscreen washer components. Edit: And the brown wire is to earth the battery cover plate in case you didn't know. Should be attached to a tag on it. |
The pipe is for venting battery gasses to the outside I believe, to prevent build-up of flamable gasses in the boot (mainly hydrogen I suspect). Probably not needed as much with modern sealed batteries.
I've always assumed the small brown cable is there for similar reasons, to ground something (not sure what exactly) to prevent build-up of static electricity, which could of course ignite battery gasses. |
ahh now i understand! thanks for your answers!
