They are very, very rare. You have to look very hard for one second hand! - They sometime come up on Ebay, but expect to pay a lot of money for one....

How hard is it to just use a facelift centre console then? I suppose you would need new buttons & climate control but would it just be plug and play?

Its do-able, but not easy. I had a pre facelift S8 with facelift dashboard a year or so ago.

The facelift climate module uses canbus to determine the engine speed for the A/C compressor, so preface = no canbus = no aircon unless you use a canbus simulator to create a drivetrain canbus, which is about £100 now if you look around in Germany. Kufantec probably do them too.

- But - The facelift climate module shares the same connectors as the preface one, so the flaps etc all work without modification. Heated seat wiring changed on the PF towards the end, and that again is different to the facelift wirining, so the plugs fit, but its the wrong pins, so you have to move them around. Also, the heated rear window moves down to the climate module facelift....

Changing the buttons isnt a straight changeover, but again do-able. Biggest ball ache is the non-latching fog light switches on the facelift versus the latching on the facelift so you need to work around that. Hazard warning was a pain too from memory, but ESP/blinds/rear seats are straight forward, and there is no PDC button on a PF car so you just blank that off.
