HELP! Dead Battery - Boot locked
I have been utilising an old, weak battery whilst going through a protracted debate with a supplier about the failure of a 1yr old Yuasa battery. Even though ive kept the battery on trickle charge, the cold weather of the last few days has killed it - dead. Trouble is, when i came to opening the boot with the key, it just rotates without mechanically unlocking. :( How can i now jump start the car? I'm sure Ive seen a way around this but can for the life of me remember where it is on the forum.

C-Tek do a plug in charger adapter for the cigarette lighter socket, and that connects to the ctek charger, and that can soon give you enough power to open the boot ok +++

Injecting 12v through the cigarette lighters, or through the electric chamber in the passenger footwell will give enough juice to get your boot open, then you can charge the battery properly once in.

I have another charger so Ill see if i can get power to the lighter socket using that +++ And thanks Ian |
If you have a regular charger with crocodiles on, remove the passenger floor mat and wooden panel, and clamp the +ve onto the incoming +12 feed at the bottom of that (cant miss it, its the big one :) ) - and pop the -ve on any earth.
Saves faffing with cigarette lighters if you have a connector handy. |
Cheers Ian. On it now.👍

Have opened up the Px footwell electric box and identified (i hope correctly) the +ve and -ve terminals. I would appreciate confirmation of the photo attached +++.
I have measured voltage across these 2 terminals and there's approx 2.5V. However, on connecting my (cheap Aldi) charger it indicates that battery is faulty and wont attempt to put a charge in. Would it be OK to connect another battery across these terminals? |
That black and yellow is switched igniton.
At the base of the box are two bolts covered with fabric tape. I'd suggest peeling the tape off and using one of those as ground. |

Charger or Battery makes no odds, either should give you a bit of juice to get the boot open. |
Job done! Many thanks for help👍
