Phone cradle recommendations for a D2?!

Hi all,

Bit of a strange silly one really, but does anyone actually know of a decent phone cradle that squeezes in the only legal place these can be fitted?

Apparently it's the lower right hand side of the windscreen above the dash, where there a multitude of air vents and not much room either!

Brodit 652106, mounts to the centre vents so not on the windscreen at all ;)

Buy here from DSL Developments along with a matching cradle for your phone +++

Seconded...go Brodit. Best ones out there. I have the black steel bracket that slips neatly between the wood trim around the RNS-D and the dash plastic to the left, and the variable size cradle that currently supports my iPhone 7 in an apple leather shell case. Had a number of handset-specific cradles on the same bracket over the last 10 years, including blackberries and Nokia lumias.

..like this, less obtrusive than a plastic mount

I use the Brodit mount which locates on the left of the centre console, primarily because it damages nothing (the clip just locates over the top edge and hooks under the bottom trim edge and you can slide it and tighten as required) and it keeps everything out of the way of all the vents and buttons +++

Thanks my friends, some great ideas there.

MJ, does that one damage the vents? I'm a bit sceptical of vent ones as I have a Samsung Galaxy S7 and it's a bit of a lump!

Don't want my beautiful vents getting damaged!

It distorts the plastic a wee bit but nothing dramatic, and it'll go back to standard without any lasting effects. It basically clips on to outer edges of the vent, so wedges between the foam of the dash and the wood surrounding the radio. If you look closely at the pic to the left of the clip you can just see the slight bend in the lower bit of the vent. It'll hold an S7 no problem.

Neil's centre-console mount is less of an interference fit, but I found when I had one there it was more distracting because you have to look down to see it. If you have an Android Auto head unit then its less of an issue, but if you're using the phone itself for nav I personally prefer the higher one. Also, you get better GPS reception higher up since it can see more of the horizon.

Thanks MJ +++
