A "proper" GT car….
 

..in the sense that GT should mean Grand Tourer, I think the S8 fits the bill perfectly. I've just returned from another - albeit short - trip across the channel, and the car was perfect: fast, smooth, very comfortable and very easy to drive enjoyably over long distances.

It ate up the miles (1250 of them over 5 days) and returned a DIS average of 23.6 mpg, to an accompaniment of lots of lovely music on the Bose via the Parrot and Spotify.

Not bad for a twelve year old motor - maybe the next trip is back to the 'ring, and a first time visit to A8 Freunde….

I'm 1800 miles into a month long trip around France in my TDi, and while it's completely standard, bar an AMI, it is an amazing beast. 85 mph/130kph where suitable and its returning a (DIS) 34.5mpg. And with Diesel being about 85p a litre out here, I'm not really fussed about the MPG!
