WANTED: reliable daily driver
Folks, my next piece of work looks like it's going to need me to do a little commuting again, albeit not more than 200 miles per week.
I don't really want to use the D2 for this and sold my M4 2 years ago once working from home became the normal for a while. So I am looking for something relatively modern/reliable, comfortable with decent power. Fuel consumption and RFL not a big concern due to lowish predicted mileage, but I would like an automatic with 4wd. A towbar for a bike rack would be a bonus. Budget anything from £10k (well maintained D3 S8) to £40k ish (nearly new, manufacturer warrantied), with the focus on something that will offer minimal depreciation as I may only need this vehicle for 6 months or so, since this new contract may not last beyond that, plus I have a reservation on a Fisker that's probably still 18 months away from delivery. So if you're moving something on, feel free to post details, with no promises I'm actually going to buy it. |

Good luck with the 18 months, if Fiskertime is anything like Teslatime - and historically it's been even worse ... |

I've never even heard of Aptera! One thing I do know though is I want absolutely nothing to do with any Musk products after his recent behaviour and blatant flaunting of employees' rights.
So, no Tesla offers on this post please :tuttut: Fisker have already started manufacturing - the decision to outsource the manufactureing to Steyr-Puch is a brilliant idea if you ask me, leaves Fisker to focus on what they're good at and Steyr-Puch have excellent quality history - they have a good product, with good EV range and competitive pricing, if they do go get the build quality and distribution right then it's a winner, which all helps with that mitigating depreciation I was on about earlier https://youtu.be/AAQJhqzTBGw |
buy an A6 C6 3.0tdi quattro about £3500 upwards depends on mileage
i use mine daily and it does 40mpg on a run too super reliable , mines on 166,000 miles and is spot on you wont loose any money cos its already lost it all |

Something with that sort of mileage would not be my choice though, any car with that sort of mileage is going to need more maintenance, which is why I generally go for nearly new, manufacturer warrantied, service every 18-24 months and not much else between. And if anything does go wrong, I take it in, leave it with them, and drive off in a loaner. I've been online shopping this morning, Jaguar i-Pace or Mustang Mach E might fit the bill, but also bookmarked a C43 Estate |
Drivetribe's V10 manual? Pity the listing has ended as I think it may have been perfect!
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/325440917419? A few videos of the car on their YouTube channel. |

That Touring made strong money - I saw two of these go through auction this time last year making £21-22k each with around 70kish miles, albeit they had not had the gearbox conversion. |
