Ian's post started me thinking about big engines again. Now as a few of you know i’m a little mental and have an interest in old and unusual stuff, like Steam / Traction engines.
A friend of mine owns a tank museum and a few years ago i was treated to the starting of a Rolls Royce B81 engine, it had been stood for a while and took a bit of starting but when it fired it sent a shiver though my body as you can actually feel it running.

Now I’ve been lucky enough to see, hear and feel a Rolls Royce Merlin engine start and run and guess what, there are some nutters that claim to have fitted such engines into cars.

Now this is a Merlin, and thank you to the owner for not being shy to let it rev.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yprfH5ZsAHk

The Beast, a 27 litre V12 Merlin engine car. But not wanting to spilt hairs the Merlin was an Aero engine and was supercharged, this engine is actually a Metior as it is non supercharged and probably came out of a tank. But either way it’s some achievement and hats off to you sir.
