GPS Aerial Failure?
Hi all,
My RNS-D unit thinks I am in Oxfordshire! Now I am assuming (maybe incorrectly) that probably the puck aerial on the boot is on the fritz. If so, before I contact our sponsors for a replacement how easy are they to swap over? The unit itself seems functional enough (apart from the analogue TV Tuner, need a time machine to make that work!) but could it be anything other than the aerial? I reckon this is one of the few jobs along with fuelling it and putting air in the tyres I might actually be able to do! Thanks all, David |
They have a silver one in stock, but its LY7W not Avus Silver. IIRC you can't just swap the innards.
Very easy to swap, though you do have to remove the boot lid lining to get at the securing bolt, which involves a fair few screws/bolts. There are also two press-stud type retainers (roughly just left and right of the centre) which can be a bit scary to pull against unless you've done it before and know you have all the screws and bolts out. After plenty of practice I can get in there in about 5 minutes now! |
