There is a Beta available

Ok guys, you may or not be aware that VCDS has a feature thats been missing that VAS tool provides.

In the battery manager module there is a history log of current drain on the battery along with other info that VCDS never could display until now.

Its in Beta phase just now and if you have Genuine VCDS then head on over to Ross tech forums to the link below to get the BETA and to provide feedback from our cars so they can iron out any bugs.

You also need to be running the latest version prior to copying in the exe file to your install folder.

See link in Matty's reply coz links is clearly not thing

Disappointing turn out from A8 community so far, only Scott has tried and responded too Ross Tech, if you don't help out then you cant cry when you have a flat battery and cant get reliable info from VCDS :(

This is the response I got from Ross-Tech

interface for this function on the A8.

I've been testing the latest code this evening and found that the A8 BEMs work differently at SW suffix C than the earlier SW no suffix/A/B versions. It's possible that the no suffix versions don't have history [these ECUs were manufactured roughly 09 2002 - 07 2003]. The A/B suffix versions [09 2003 - 04 2004] apparently have different log format to the Cs [04 2004 - 03 2009].

Currently I have a B suffix version installed in the car and it doesn't work [although something's being read] using the 17.2.2. Beta.

Confusingly, my ECU is marked on the label SW 4E0 910 181 / 02 / 019 but VCDS recognises it as 4E0 910 181B / 02 / 240!!!

Edited note: Found out yesterday that my H02 0190 BEM had been flashed to H02 0240. Hence label mismatch ...

I'm on it! :)

Ross Tech have adapted quite quickly to the discovery of different versions of the A8 BEM.

I've been testing some new code today for them ...

Yeah, they seem on it as far as moving forward is concerned.

Best to strike while the iron is hot so to speak.

I sent mine but I confess i cant make head nor tail of the data yet so look forward to them sorting it out.

Almost there ...

Ross tech have made great progress. I'm testing a beta for them today which should read old [0230,0240] BEM logs as well as newer [510,550] BEM logs.

The good news is that they're also developing a tool to convert the logs [gobbledygook] into a report [English], so that we can see what's goiing on. :)
