Hi lovely people hope all is well. Just bit the bullet and purchased VCDS HEX NET. No I blew my budget so need a tablet/notebook under £100 if poss to use. I hope to add BMW diagnostics too in the future so any recommendations? Was looking at the Windows surface pro 3?? Thanks in advance.+++

Just get an old cheap used laptop, VCDS doesn't need anything modern.
Budget for a new battery...... |
Dell E5500 series are perfect for VCDS - cheap as chips ex-corporate machines, relatively robust, 15" screen, support Windows 10, and are plenty quick enough with an SSD.

Similar to that, I've got a Dell E6320 (upgraded to SSD and W10) and am now replacing it with a Dell XPS13 (SSD as standard) which is smaller and lighter.
And both were free, being thrown away (by different people) because of easily-fixable problems. The XPS13 was "dead" but just needed a battery-out reset and it's fine. (Both, as noted elsewhere, now running Windows 11.) |
I use a Panasonic Toughbook CF-19. They are robust and can be used as a laptop or tablet. Reasonably priced these days, throw in a cheap SSD and away you go

I've got a 'free' Toshiba Portege I acquired - as above if it's any SSD based laptop it will boot really quickly and consume bugger all power. The battery is hidden inside the case, and although it's a bit below par it works fine for running scans etc. It's got an i5 processor and runs W10 absolutely fine.

Thanks All+++
