Window regulator failure
6 Attachment(s)
I am in the process of trying to repair the left rear window. First I looked at the switch, as I hoped I might not have to pull the panel off.
Taking the panel off, I immediately noticed a piece at the bottom of the door. After further inspection, the window regulator mechanism is clearly broken. :-( Any chance I can get it back together to be able to fully close the window? edit: (I just remembered it is vacuum driven) HPsauce is correct, my mistake. |
I thought the window mechanism was driven by an electric motor? The central locking is a vacuum/pump system.
Hopefully someone will be along soon who recognises those broken components. |
You are right. When I try to hold it together by hand, I see the wire moving in the low left side. Behind that L-shaped arm. The window is moving slightly. Either up or down.

The wire is broken

Pretty common for the wire to get rusty and snap. You'll need the regulator mechanism per your last picture.

Yes. I think I will need the regulator for both rear sides. As the right one has been tricky as well, although it isn't as bad as this side.
Well, now I at least know what and where the problem is :) |

It is easy to remove the door panel.
I removed the two philips screws with washers along with the 8 mm bolt. Then the door switch panel was removed. Two small philips screws up in each top corner of the door. Then 3 larger philips screws under the plastic trim. I did break one plastic plug though, taking the whole panel loose. Last part was to release the wire going to the door handle inside. |
I think it's assumed you will always break some of the plastic clips. Our sponsors tend to include a handful automatically with any parts that are likely to require removing a door trim.
|
You did well to only break one clip - usually most of them break. I replace all of them when the door card comes off since they usually don't go back together again.
