W12 engines... what goes wrong?
 

I've heard about W12 engines failing... and I've seen a little bit about it being bearings that go etc but what actually causes the failure and is there a known problem with certain engine codes etc?

if you have any links to right ups about the failings i would like to see them as i have not yet heard of a failing , but my W12 had a new engine fitted in november 2011 at the cost of £22000 and i still dont know why it had a new engine no idea at all ?

someone else thinking of using a W12 in a project...

A thread I started on there a while ago...

I'll stick anything else up I can find but atm it looks to be broken crankshafts that cause problems.

Only regular failure i've heard about is the thermostat... normail to fail in any car, but over a grand to do in the W12.. It's usually bits around it that then make it expensive.
