Will you be advertising her soon?

Yeah. I need to swap the heater valve block next as that also failed while she was in storage so that's a job for this week, plus a few other niggles and she'll be ready to go.

To bad it's a RHD, otherwise I would have been willing to buy it. The car looks just lovely and we all know, it couldn't be in better shape after you did the work, MJ
I am sure the next owner will be very pleased

Ok a mini how-to for CV boots, albeit with the driveshafts off the car which makes it soooo much easier!

The joint itself is good. No water ingress or dirt in there so fine to re-use it

Help, or at least peace of mind required. Have used this thread a number of times whilst undertaking suspension refresh, CV boot replacement. I am on my 4th CV boot replacement and having lost my notes on what I have done before, have had a little wobble over the orientation of the 'races' (hope that's right). Considering I have done this three times before you would think I would remember.

The joint on this drive shaft came off particularly easy - good old whack in the special spot. Took apart, cleaned, laid out and replaced as pic: - noting that the thinner leading edge of the (inner race?) facing up

Now this joint was a particular PIA to get back on, extra assistance with mallet required. Question is, have I got the orientation of the (race's) the right way, it sort of looks like your pic MJ but just having a wobble as I have done the others this way :-(

I'm sorry to say I think you have the cage upside down :( I just checked a scrap joint and the thicker portion is definitely at the top.

I never normally take them apart this far tbh so I had to check one. Usually I catch them before any damage so just repack with the grease that comes with the boot kit.

I originally followed this guy on youtube. At 7:15 he indicates the cage/race location.

Also having a good study of your pic which was from Big Red it looks to be the same. I think I'm ok +++:rolleyes:
