Bodywork

I've notices some bubbling on some of the body work. Just seeing if anyone else has the same problem and what can be done.

Not the best picture, but the paint is coming off the edge on both sides. Had this happen on my old B5 RS4. You'd have thought audi wouldn't be making the same mistakes.

There are 2 bubbled areas on the boot.

I do have what looks like a bit around the part where your indicator is missing on one side.
This panel has been repainted due to scrape by previous owner.
None near the rear number plate light though.

You can change the triangular piece that rusts on the rear door, I think notorius has changed his on his D2. I think it was a bit of a time consuming item to change but perfectly possible +++

Item 17
Sorry cant find the part number in Vagcat for some reason

Perforation Warranty

I have a 2004 D3 in black with the same issues, both triangular trim pieces on the rear doors have minor bubbling on the edges & the trim over the rear number plate has a bubbling patch about the size of a 20cent coin. I have made a sucessful claim under warranty through my local Dealer. The work is to be carried out by their bodyshop when the car is in for its next service. The Service Manager photographed the defects & e-mailed them to Audi but it took about 3 months for a response. Worth a go, particularly if you have a stamped up service book. Best of luck with it.+++

The boot handle on my PF bubbled too.. new owner replaced it, I just never got round to it.

Just had my boot trim panel replaced by Teesside Audi as a goodwill gesture on the basis that I have had my D3 serviced there and it has full service history. Not covered by warranty as such because it is classified as trim not bodywork but fair play to them they completely replaced and painted and also needed to replace some part of the lock as a bolt broke during strip down. This meant keeping the car overnight so they sent a minicab to pick me up from work and lent me an A5 for the evening. It is obviously a common problem just like the black triangle which I noticed was beginning to corrode on an A6 avant at only 3 years old that I looked at recently.

I bought two new back door triangles from Audi for my 04 A8 can't remember how much they were but Audi wanted over £500 to fit the pair,as my A8 was looked after by Wearside Audi they eventually agreed to fit them for £260 the pair, still never had hem done,I sold them with the car,my 57 plate A8 now is just starting to corrode, iam thinking of having them repaired by my local body shop before they get worse
Must be a common fault on A8's

Well done Radman! I took the car to audi and waited a day before they called to say no. Will get it sorted myself, the boot trim has got a lot worse.
