Oil change experience

I would like to share todays experience on the oil change.
I decided to go through easy way to suck the oil through the deep-stick. That was the quickest and easiest oil change i ever did.. I would recomend to everyone.I purchased 100w oil pump from ebay for £20 and worked well.
Also replaced oil filter which was a bit fiddly job as I had to remove the whole air box.
I poured in 7.3L of fresh 5w30 castrol magnatec c3 gold juice.
I know capacity is 7.5L on my engine but You never get all oil out unless you dropp the pan.
Job done under 40min

Thats good to know. I just bought one of those wee pumps so that I can service my fleet without having to drop everything undert he engine!

I've got a very similar one (from Lidl a while back), and it's great. Buy 5w30 507 oil when I see it cheap, and can just pick up a filter and change the oil quickly with little mess whenever it needs doing.

I have full service from audi but that b**** cant tell what oit they have put in,,so I decided to pump it out and use 5w30 as you said however when I start the engine from cold(at morning or after 3-4 h of not using it) it sounds like metalic lid on boiling pot of water,,I read about it and it looks the oil slip back down to the pan and engine makes the horible noise until it bulds up the preasure (1-2 seconds)....I might change it into something ticker in a few months.

lacovicj; the key point from JohnMed's comment is that you should make sure you get oil that meets VAG spec. 507.00 [Longlife Diesel] or 504.00 [Longlife Petrol].

I note that all the oils I see [and use] meet both specs.

Thank you. I used Castrol Magnatec (C3) Engine Oil - 5W-30 which is VW 502 00/ 505 00.
I have checked that before using it also audi webside recommends it. But not knowing if audi dealer put 0w30, 5w30, 5w40, 10w40 and there is too much confuson I went for the 5w30 C3.

I would like to still get as much opinions on what oil to use as my A8 is 3.7 petrol than more common TDI.

There is too much confusion on the engine oil especially when the manual says something different:ROFL::ROFL:

I see you had an audi a2 previosly.. I had 1.4 petrol version...Nice city car but when 3 of my 110kg friends sat in the car was getting hard times to move. That was a real Lego car plus the detachable bonet like a racing car:D
