EDIT 10th June 2019: No longer a feeler post - now for sale

This is a feeler post as I'm not 100% decided, but I've still long dreaded the day I'd be posting this, however the arrival of my (now 6 week old) daughter into the family means that we need to change the car strategy a little (mainly for boot space and having a car the Mrs can drive). That coupled with the fact that we live in London (space is an issue) and as I don't need a car for work, it's not going to be driven enough to keep it in its excellent condition, means it really deserves to go to someone who will enjoy it at its best, as a terrific commuting vehicle.

We're seeing a far inferior car for the Mrs next weekend, and if so I may well be letting the beloved 8 go - I'd much rather it went to someone on here than be wasted as a trade in.

I bought it at the end of 2014 with 77k miles from a wealthy enthusiast owner who nearly cried as I drove it off his drive. It was bought for a new job which would require me to commute from London to Leeds and back once a week, but I ended up not taking the job and used it instead for long road trips on weekends.

It's a 10-reg D3 Sport 3.0 TDI, one of the last few made before the D4 made its way on our roads. Here are the vital stats and good bits:
  • Colour: Quartz Grey metallic, grey leather interior
  • Mileage: Just under 114k (in weekly use)
  • MOT'ed until March 2019 (no advisories since new)
  • Full service history - main dealer up to 75k and independent specialist since, I do a longlife service every year / 9k regardless of indicator with fuel filter changed each time. Huge file of booklets and receipts present including original invoice for the car in 2010. Last serviced in March during the MOT and less than 2k miles since
  • Gearbox service incl. fluid, filter at around 80k - changes are silky smooth
  • All front control arms and anti roll bar bushes replaced in the last year, new xenon bulbs beginning of last year
  • New battery and air suspension relay replaced (preventative) in March during the MOT
  • All the lovely facelift upgrades, plus B&O, DVD, Bluetooth, 2014 Sat Nav maps, quad zone climate, power boot, comfort headrests, Sport (S8) tailgate
  • Keyless, two remote keys plus the black key
  • Electric Towbar (retrofit) used by the previous owner to tow his new boat once, after which he decided a £120k Range Rover SDV8 would do the job a lot better, so he bought one.
  • Tinted rear windows - non-factory
  • Terrific carbon interior modification by Marcin of these shires, wood is immaculate underneath if not to the new owner's tastes
Everything works.

It drives beautifully - much better than when I bought it, and honestly the smoothest D3 I've driven (which is a fair few!). No doubt all the work done above has helped, but also by doing lots of long journeys, including 4 trips to the continent in my ownership).

Condition is excellent bar a few light scratches on the corner of the front bumper (driver's side) and some curbing on the alloys but both issues are cosmetic and easily sorted. Bodywork is clayed and de-tarred twice a year and sealed every 3 months. A bit of wear on the drivers' seat bolster but no cracks - leather is cleaned and balmed every few months.

Would love to hear if anyone on here is interested - if so please let me know. If I don't get an offer from someone on here, I may just find somewhere to park it for the odd time we need a second car.

I know I'll regret selling it, but given the low mileage I do there may be scope for an S8 sometime in the near future - always a silver lining! +++

It's with a very heavy heart that having put it off for a whole year, I'm declaring this no longer a feeler post. Our little one is now over a year old, active and mobile, and regular trips from the grandparents abroad mean that we're in the market for a big family wagon, so the 8 needs to go. :(

Mileage is now just under 120k - the car is in daily use and running beautifully. We did a 400 mile round trip at the weekend and the car was glorious, as it always has been, despite the awful weather. Returned an indicated 47.6 mpg too.

MOT passed in March with no advisories and emissions were very clean, expires 26th March 2020.

The car does need two front tyres - am looking to replace them in the next month but if it goes beforehand, I'll take money off the sale price for the new owner to choose what rubber they want. Alloys still need a refurb!

Looking for £6,950. Docklands area, East London (E16)

Yes, this does seem to have knocked the values of quite a few of the older Audi Diesels..... Q7's are suffering too as most of the older shape are the 3.0 Tdi also....

I sold my Petrol Q7 a few months back and nearly had my arm chewed off.... Would have struggled to get rid of it 12 months earlier... !
