Audi D2 S8 for sale. Requires gearbox

Ollie's (Conquistador) old D2 that I purchased just over 2 years ago.

Genuine car. Blue / beige alcantara combination. Wood trim body coded.
Extensive history (belts / pumps etc) and general servicing.

Has been well cared for as a demonstrator vehicle for my business Distinguished Detailing.

Alloys had been previously refurbished. Still very respectable condition.
There are also a set of 18" multifit alloys refurbed in black sat with the car. Matching and branded set of tyres (will confirm on update)

De-catted to sound as they should have from the factory.

Been quoted £2000 for a full gearbox refurbishment from a specialist in Billingham who was recommended on this site.

Car still drives. Just locked in 5th or reverse!

Will arrange a MOT this week to assure interested parties of its overall condition and usability.

No idea what to ask for it as its true value. It has just been tucked away in dry storage whilst I found a way to have the gearbox sorted. The sudden loss of my storage has now upskittled all of those plans.:Confused:

The car is worth having the gearbox sorted rather than it journeying to our site sponsors and becoming another loss.

Genuine enquiries and offers are very much welcomed. General chat about it being a scrap value car etc will just cause me deep upset as this isn't an advert I ever had any intention of listing. Just not prepared to see it sat outside and deteriorate as the weather takes hold of brakes etc.

I will be with the car tomorrow so will take a portfolio of up to date photos of it.

Gutted for you mate, you've had no luck at all with D2 ownership, none at all.

Who have you spoken to regarding repairs to the gearbox? I spoke to someone in Teeside when my D2 was acting up and he sounded very knowledgeable, I can supply his number if you like?

Knowing you and your standards well it'll be too nice an example now to even consider for breaking, I hope someone gets it sorted and back on the road, hopefully you +++

Hey fella. Thanks for that.
Would be worth grabbing the number although I wonder if it will be the same fella? Certainly knew his gearboxes and these s8's well. We chatted for almost an hour about them until I realised I was stopping him earning a living!! :tuttut:

Sorry to hear that - that's a nice car I remember well. Are you sure it's not the F125 selector switch on the side of the gearbox causing it? Mine recently failed as an internal prong on the switch broke off and it stuck in 1st gear then inhibited the car from starting, but a switch would be a relatively cheap fix if it was that at about £300-500 including part and labour (there are 2 different types of switch)

I am sure that the F125 switch would have been first issue looked at if the Billingham tech was good with ZF boxes. However, strange things do happen......

If the box is gone, however, sounds like another candidate for manual gearbox! Mikkijayne!

I would get VCDS on it and read the codes (and publish here for comment) before making any decisions.

I would second that advice from HPsauce as it revealed both the source of my borked gearbox in the first place, and also helped with a subsequent gearbox controller fault with a bad ROM.

Cheers fellas.
Who has the nearest diagnostic to myself please? Say within 50 miles of Middlesbrough??

Appreciating the positive vibes ++++++

Have a look here for starters: http://forum.a8parts.co.uk/showthrea...967#post134967 or give our sponsors a call?

I have updated this thread in the transmission section. There are now codes and a little more information that may prove worth something to those who have a far better understanding of their workings than myself!

Thanks as always ++++++
