XCarLink iPod/USB/Bluetooth kit
Hi peeps,
I ordered an iPod adapter kit for my RNS-D and installed it at the weekend. It's from XCarLink found here: http://www.xcarlink.co.uk/home.php?cat=4 I'm really impressed with how it works and sounds. And now I have all my music to hand! Turns out I also have a contact at the distributor there, so if anyone on here is interested then let me know and I will have a word. Thanks Yas |
Yes, I've got a variation of that, though not currently installed - it came out temporarily to enable some more complex plans that must wait for warmer weather.

That's interesting - was it this one you fitted?

What do you see on the RNS screen when it's in use?
|
Hi Shirish,
is the one I purchased: http://www.xcarlink.co.uk/product.ph...6&cat=4&page=1 As I already have a Bluetooth kit connected, I would have bought the Bluetooth model. Thanks Yas Quote:

It connects via the CD changer port, but still allows use of the changer. It just looks like you're listening to a cd. The buttons for track forward and back let you change the track.
You cannot see the iPod info on the screen unfortunately but you can leave the iPod on display somewhere i.e. windscreen mount as it doesn't lock the iPod screen and you still have control of it. I installed mine in the glove box for now and set it to mix songs so I don't need to see the iPod screen and what's playing. It also charges the iPod. Quote:

I have one of these with the music on SD card, works very well

I installed the unit in that useless little storage space at the very bottom of the radio/heating cluster (ie behind the ashtray flap). I chose there because it's concealed, yet the USB charging socket is still accessible. |
I have the "all-in-one" version, initially installed (untidily) in the glovebox, with bluetooth. http://www.xcarlink.co.uk/product.ph...7&cat=4&page=1
I'm moving it to the drivers knee cubby hole - eventually! Work in progress. :o |

Is there a ready made gap/hole for the lead to pass through to the RNS-D in that space? Would prefer not to have to drill holes if possible Where have you mounted the wired mic, assuming you fitted it? Also, can you control using the RNS-D? Sorry for all the Q's but that looks ideal for my needs. Shirish |
