Driver's side cat available

Afternoon all

My driver's side cat has died. I've replaced it with an aftermarket one but the actual cat housing and pipes is available if anyone wants it as a project to repair and replace. All comes as one part.

No idea what it's worth - make me an offer and I'll box it up and send it.

Buyer would need to pay postage or collect it from Watford in Herts.

Thanks

Mossy

Is there anything left in it or is it just an empty shell?

Cats, I love em too.

If some of the cat is still left in there, have you tried cat recyclers?
These guys paid something like £127 each! for my old cats and one of them was badly broken up and missing some pieces. Didn't seem to reduce the value.

That's why I want to know if there is any left in there. I wants it, but I want to make a fair offer +++

There is still material in there. It was just getting a bit noisy so I replaced it. The material might have broken down a bit but it’s not a shell by any means l.

That's how mine were. One or both cats were rattling, getting progressively worse for a few months until I managed to find someone who could make a new exhaust for me. I didn't think the old cats would be worth much but this place paid me £220 for the pair. I dropped the old cats off and, after a quick inspection, they transferred the funds to my bank account there and then. One thing to note though is that they initially said they'd pay "at least £50" for the cats and that it might be more depending on the part numbers. Once the cats were removed and I was able to give them the part numbers, they upped their offer. I suspect some earlier cats contain a lesser amount of precious metals.

Hmm. I was going to offer £50, but it sounds like I might be out-bid by the recyclers :(

All I really want is the downpipe tbh. Do the recyclers accept just the cat body without pipework or do they expect the whole thing?

They just want the cats. The pipes were cut off on mine.

Yes they accepted it in my case too, the cats were chopped off right at the root with no pipe.

Sorry for the off topic, but how is the old girl Richard? I do miss her! :D

And, isn't it time you got a new photo for your signature +++

I am thinking of following Adrian E example and sending my old two across to Germany for re-packing the Cats. If I am correct Adrian paid circa £900 including posting for the two. I now have two new aftermarket Cats on my car, so can still drive the car. I bought my replacement Cats from Catman in Southampton. Very reasonable price +++

All good thanks

She's running well. Just had cambelt service, plus have redone all front suspension with OEM and had F125 done. Few small parking dings unfortunately but they will be dealt with in the Summer. Overall she's running like a dream.

I've deleted that photo from my profile. Need to find a new one.

Richard

Bump - Cat still for sale

Sorry for the bump but I'm moving house and the cat has to go. Best price gets it by the end of the week gets it. Collection probably best as its a hell of a lump but it is boxed and can be couriered if someone is willing to pay for it to be shipped across.

PM me with a price if you want it.

Thanks

As my S8 gearbox has failed I have been exploring different options of which the most likely is to partially dismantle it and sell some parts including cats and scrap the rest. Most places does not show the prices so I have completed couple of forms and expecting some quotes back, probably on Monday.

Below is the one that shows prices straight away on website https://www.catalyticconverterrecycling.com/

Also a friend of mine is getting the price from his place where he sold his BMW 323 cat for £500 and 525 diesel cat for £100 when 323 got 4.4 transplant and 525 also had auto box failure.
