Elusive wipers
Anyone got good recommendations for wipers? I need some new ones but they seem to be quite elusive as a set for the A8
|
Lucas ones are decent. Or Audi do set for around £40
|
If you go to Audi Dealerships then they have to do a supply and fit wiper blades swap service for a fixed fee, and its cheaper than just buying the wipers from Audi, but they change them for you too and probably give you a nice coffee and wash your car haha. . . . crazy but worth doing

I ended up getting a pair at TPS, but at £65'ish :( |

That's the current price for blades? I once got them for £25 from TPS, next time round was £46 with trade discount!
Worrying that a dealer says they can't get them, maybe complain to Audi UK? The originals are SWF - you can find them online - many brands/ebay/aliexpress but pretty much always LHD - they fit but would lift at speed instead of pressing down. Related but not Audi - have you seen the current Mercedes wipers - they have had these for a few years now... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=07AZHkkLR0k |

Buy just the rubbers https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2pcs-Auto...MAAOSwwbdWOGoL
For me at least it does not matter if I buy genuine or cheap blades still need to change them at least twice a year so I don't see the point throwing money away for genuine every time. |
Cost me £52 from Audi Warrington about 3 years ago, not long after I got the car. Still on the car now. There was no mention of the deal where they fit them at the time. I’ve since learned of it here.

I love the genuine Audi ones. I used to have Valeo blades on my car which were quite nice, until I tried the Audi ones on a courtesy car. I changed them immediately.
|
Probably get shot down for this but I have used Aldi wipers on the D2 for some years now and they are great, every time they pop up as specials I buy a few sets, usually change them every 18 months or so and TBH they have been perfect+++
Got BOSCH of ebay for the RS6, at least they come in BOSCH boxes, but who knows with the bay..do seem to work very well though+++ |
How do you make them last 18 months? I need to change mine at least twice a year, I tried genuine Audi hoping they will last better but no luck.
|
I bought my current set in 2016 on fleebay for £1.99 free postage from Germany. They put the price up to £27 plus postage after mine arrived. Now I can.t find the site.
The wipers are still excellent after over 18 months use. |

Well I only wash the car about twice a year i.e the same number of times I change wiper rubber.

Ainars is rather like me, mine only really gets cleaned when I get to a show with Aspect Valeting in operation!

Thanks chaps. Called Audi tetbury and they have offered wipers, healthcheck, wash, vac, coffee and use of their business lounge with WiFi for £42
Judging by the costs for wipers alone that makes for a good deal to me :) |
I use these, am on my second set which has done 20,000 miles including snow in the alps, rain on the Autobahn, and still going strong. They're probably not as sophisticated as Audi ones, but at the price you can afford to replace them 3 times as often!

I use the Lucas blades - LWDF24C - which are £9.50 each. Marcin recommended these some time ago and they're fine ...

I was looking at a part for someone which was around £130-140 some months ago. I checked yesterday and it's nearly £400! Same part, probably the same stock sat on a shelf. Need to start investing in car parts lol |
