D3 S8 - V10 Mileage per Gallon?

Can any S8 V10 owners give me an idea what it does to the gallon?

Been offered a cracking deal on one.

For instance my car at the moment gets 240 miles to £50..... Roughly what is this like in comparison?

£50 to 240 miles. Odd way to measure your MPG.

Since owning mine I've averages a shade under 20 mpg. However my daily commute is under one mile there, and the same back (obviously).
The car doesn't get off cold in either direction and this murders the economy.
The recent trip to the Nurnburgring averaged a little over 22mpg. This involved pootling down to Dover, then tickeling along a lot of unrestricted autobhans :D with a mid section economically dribbling around the ring .

The conclusion you can draw form this is that 27 to the gallon is easily achievable on a rational 100 mile 75 mph run.

How you achieve a decent overall average is beyond me. The noise and drama and sheer fun, do invite a somewhat enthusiastic progress +++

A8 Doc.

a 4.2 D3 on LPG gets 230 miles to approx £39

a D3 S8 V10 is going to get approx 240 miles for maybe £100 lol.......

i too measure MPG like this. as MPG is irrelevant as its down to fuel cost.

i used to get 100 miles for a tenner, that used to be my benchmark.

I always calc based on tank average brim to brim. Just take litres and multiply by 0.22 to get gallons and divide that into miles travelled. I'm finding the trip computer lies by about 4%. I reckon a d3 will be slightly better than a d2 in most circumstances down to much more modern

Yay 1st post typed on my new iPhone :)

Did you type it, or get Siri to do it? The D3 should be better especially with its 6 speed gearbox. I've always maintained the worst feature on the D2 S8 is the crappy gearing, my RS 6 sits 1k rpm lower at motorway speeds then the S8 did which means it will be a lot more economical. Its annoying how it sits there at 1k rpm more then an A8 when doing the same speed so the A8 can do 30 MPG and the S8 only 23. Vorsprung Durch technik my ass, still love the D2 S8 though, that's the only thing I can fault about it.

Nope... cant think of any... :p

A8 4.2 is still the one to go for as I completely agree with Amar... A high 5th gear in the S8 could have made a big difference to motorway cruising mpg...

I don't think the 3.7 A8 is really that more economical then the 4.2 A8 is it? Probably 1 mpg in it so I'd rather have the 50?BHP :D
