D3 facelift info
 

Hi Guys and girls

I'm just in the process of buying a D3 A8 3.0 TDI 2005. Does anyone know what month in 2005 Audi started producing the face lift model ?
Also, i have heard, that you can program the HVAC's timer to warm the vehicles interior prior leaving for work in the mornings, is this true ?

Any more info on buying one of these would be greatly appreciated.

To narrow it down a bit, I'm pretty sure it happened between September 2004 and March 2005 because mine was a '54' plate which had the updated front, not the 'double grille' from pre-2005.

The D3 I drive most of the time was registered 29/4/05 and has the full grille +++

Hi Russell, I believe it slightly depends on the engine version, but I couldn't tell which month it was for 3.0TDI. Obviously the facelift is easily recognized so why does it matter? :)

From memory 3.0TDI had upgraded timing chain or tensioner at some point around 2005, I'm sure someone here can confirm if this is correct?

I have seen a few 2005' with the facelift and i didnt want to buy a car that had it retro fitted, i want origional.
I have recently found one that has a genuine 77000 miles with full Audi main dealer service history with all previous receipts and mots. Sounds too good to be true
