Key Fob remote lock/unlock stopped working.

Hi,

For some reason my car has decided to suddenly not pay any attention to either key fobs. Both fobs have had recent battery changes and both show the green light on the key when i press a button.

However the car wont lock or unlock when standing right next to it pressing buttons on either keys. Im having to unlock and lock the doors by manually inserting the key at the moment.

It starts and drives fine once the key is in the ignition. I have the keyless start stop also and when i press that with no key in the ignition it says "key not found".

What is the difinitive method for resetting the key fobs for the D3? i have seen so many different methods online.

Thanks

The lock/unlock feature is completely different to starting the car. The car starts, so the authorization works. Try putting the key near the steering column and see if the start button works.
Ideally you want a scanner on the car to see what codes it is throwing up. Also check that the passenger footwells are dry

Thanks for the reply.

It has however just fixed itself, i think perhaps the battery was running a little low and maybe it disabled the central locking during that period. I saw v brief yellow low battery flash up a few days ago. Ive since been on a few runs and its all back to normal now.

Cheers

On a tangent somewhat.. I have bought an identical 3rd / spare key for my S8. Although new condition and new to me, it has been used and is programmed to work with another car. I was hoping I could clone one of my other keys that works with my car today. Is that possible?

You could try contacting Craig Nettleton of Auto Solutions. He has a Facebook page, but can also be contacted on 07900600548 or via email at craigynett@gmail.com

You cannot clone a key, well theoretically you could but it has fixed ID and variable code which changes every time it's used. So if you used new cloned key the variable code would change on the cloned key when you use it but would stay the same on old key so old key would not work. You need to pair each key individually. It's possible to pair old key but I think you need the immo box or dash from the donor car as well. Easier to get a new ID44 immobilizer chip and change it donor key, then program as new key.

This is for coding the key to start the engine, remote control part to lock unlock doors you can pair yourself.

Thanks Both. I did place a order with Craig Nettleton on 12/10/2020 by email following a phone call. Still waiting.. I regret now not getting a key at the meet in North Wales (when he was there in person).

That's how I know him. Got two Bentley style keys for the D2 and well pleased with them.
