For sale 2003 D3 4.2 SPORT PETROL ON LPG

Well time has come to let this car go to a new home.

I would love to keep it, however life is moving me in another direction so i need to let this go now.

Since i have owned it, I have done a fair bit of work to it. The mileage is approximately 146000. Most recently, I replaced the steering rack, top and lower control arms and new tyres on the front.

It now has 12 months MOT, however will need some new tyres on the back and new brakes at the front at some point. I did service the car when I first bought it, however it will be due an oil change now.

The bad bits on this car are:
1.I caught front drivers wing when reversing out of drive. Can be seen in pictures below.
2. The rear parking sensors are not working at present. I changed the module, however i believe needs coding in.
3. Some one decided to scratch the car while it was parked up one night. Its not too bad, however would be nice to have it corrected.
4. MMI sometimes switches off on start up. It will come back to life, after some period of driving, however it is a intermittent fault.

They are the bad bits. The good bits are:

1.Runs on LPG.
2.20" Alloys all round
3.Adaptive cruise control
4.AMI
5.Digital TV Tuner
6.Solar Sunroof
7.Heat reflective Tint Glass
8.Private Plate
9.Bluetooth
10.Keyless Start/Stop/Entry

This car is very well specced and once the niggling faults are resolved, it will make a lovely car for someone. Unfortunately, I just do not have the time or space for it anymore.

I am looking for 3250 ono. If interested get in touch thanks.

This is the only car I can think of that has been owned by 4 forum members, including myself....

Good spec and unique colour with the bonus of LPG. Genuine S8 twin spoke rims too.

I can't speak for its condition at present as I've not seen it for a long time, but its a lovely combination of spec and colour at a not outrageous price...

All the temptation....but I've already got a pretty nice one and 4 other cars i really should be getting rid of, rather than buying any new ones!

Looking at the previous Advert you've missed quite a bit off the spec!

How long has the LPG been on the car? Any problems with the LPG?

Have the belts been done?

I've had a D2 in the past and I gather they can have issues with the gearbox if it's not serviced - assuming it's the same for the D3, has the gearbox been serviced? Apologies if I'm barking up the wrong tree as I have no knowledge of the D3's.

Whereabouts in the Midlands are you?

Cambelt n Spec

Hi
In terms of spec, I am not too hot on D3s so yes I am sure there are few things that I have missed.

Cambelt was done at approx 116k I believe. In terms gearbox I am not sure about servicing however it is smooth as can be. Also, I have been told gearboxes are fairly reliable on these cars.

Whereabouts is the LPG tank? Is it one of the ones in the spare wheel well or the big tanks in the boot?

Any issues with the LPG? Sorry to push the point but I'm not overly keen on LPG having spent £1880 to get it fitted on one of my previous cars only for it to ruin the car. That was a turbo though however - I believe LPG is happier on V8's. Is that the case? Any issues?

Can't comment on this specific car, but got my 3.7 D2 converted to LPG three years ago. Have done 30,000 miles since then, and only had one issue with the system... and that turned out to be a safety measure, and a problem with one of the coil packs, so yes, definitely happy on this V8.

Hi,

No problems with LPG, wish mine had bigger, "sideways cylinder" tank and the spare in the well. My boot now has spare wheel sliding around despite load-lugs and bungees (not appropriate for car of this class imho).

My toroidal tank takes just 60 litres due to allowance for expansion, gives only 200 miles before "red light" comes on. Then can do 50 or 60 miles but feels like I HAVE to refill...

Also engine needs time to fully warm up. Mine will go onto LPG really quickly but then get upset with itself and "trip out". :tuttut: I switch off the LPG and let engine warm up, choosing when to switch back on.

Finally I wouldn't have bought any A8?without LPG. I take my hat off to owners running petrol engines doing 20 mpg but I can't...

Had LPG on a 4.2 facelift S8. Prins System. Did ~100K on that with no real problems on the LPG side over 3 years. If you really booted it, it would drop back to gas, but on the whole it was exceedingly responsive on gas to the point that you had little idea apart from at the pump. Cleaner, greener and cheaper.

My current one has LPG but i've yet to really run it as i've issues with the car due to the poor install / Something giving missfires. LPG is fussier than Petrol and shows up faults in the engine earlier!

It's my 3rd LPG car. Love 'em!
