Bonnet catch pops occasionally, drivers side.

This is a bit weird, but occasionally I notice that the drivers side bonnet has popped up, so is a few mm ajar. Usually I just push it down firmly and it latches properly - or seems to.

Occasionally, if the weather is good, I open it up have a look for anything unusual, give it a squirt of lubricant and make sure it's closing, securing and releasing properly. Always seems fine.

Something presumably isn't quite adjusted right so it springs open when driving (vigorously?), but what? Where would you start? Could it be something as trivial as a bit of wear on the catch or the rod that pokes down into the mechanism. Can those be rotated or swapped L to R?

The cable may be too tight, or the bonnet pin is too short. Both can be adjusted, although when fiddling with the cable it's prudent to take the headlights out in case anything goes wrong!

Thanks MJ, I don't think it's the cable as that always seems to have a little slack in it. I didn't know the pin length was adjustable so I'll have a look at that. +++

They get sticky, I used to have to flick the quadrant thingy the cable is attached to on the drivers side one to get it to unstick before closing the bonnet.

have a look down the holes the bonnet pins go in when you pick the bonnet up see if its sticking slightly. Try a good clean up and a bit of wiggling
